3. Eligibility for SSC CHSL Recruitment 2017 and 2018

Here are the age and educational eligibility for various posts under SSC CHSL.

  1. Age Limit (as on 01.08.2018) for SSC CHSL Recruitment

8. Exam Pattern for SSC CHSL Recruitment 2017

SSC CHSL has introduced small changes in the exam pattern. Earlier, the prelims exam was for 75 mins. Now the time has been reduced to 60 mins only. The candidates will be selected on the basis of online Tier I and Tier II Examination and Skill Test.

The SSC CHSL exam is conducted in the three tiers.

Tier 1: Online Test
Tier 2: Descriptive Paper
Tier 3: Skill Test/Typing Test

Tier 1: Online Test

The Tier I paper will consist of General Intelligence, English Language, Quantitative Aptitude and General Awareness. The paper will be worth 100 marks and duration 60 minutes. This will be an online objective test, available in Hindi/English language.

Remember, there is negative marks for wrong answers. SSC will deduct 0.50 marks for every wrong answer. So be very careful while attempting questions. SSC CHSL Cut-offs for this exam is usually very high when compared to other exams.

Here is an important point, there are no sectional cut off marks for these exams. SSC CHSL only overall cut off marks.Who score higher marks in tier 1 and 2 will be called for the Skill Test / Typing test.

If you look at SSC CHSL syllabus, you will find that this syllabus is almost same as SSC CGL Exam, the only difference is the difficulty level. The SSC CGL syllabus is having a difficulty level of Graduation and the difficulty level is CHSL Exam is of 10+2.

Applicants are advised to refer previous model papers for SSC CHSL 2017 exam. Then only you will get an idea, how paper it is and how many marks you can score. You can see the previous cut off marks are higher. The reason behind higher cut marks is 'a large number of applicants and the lesser number of vacancies'. approximately 20 to 25 Lakh candidates are appearing for this exam.

Tier 2: Descriptive Paper

As per the Updated SSC CHSL Syllabus, Descriptive Paper is essay writing of 200-250 words and Letter writing of 150 to 200 words. It is one-hour duration for this exam. You should score a minimum of 33% marks to be considered for selection. Descriptive paper can write either in Hindi or English. You can choose either of these languages.

If you are not good at maths, then it can be a difficult for you. But if you practice well, then this section is easy then you can score good marks. You still have 4 months to prepare for the exam. If, you give daily 2 hours for this section. then you can score 40-45 without much trouble. This section is moderate to difficult. Practice as much as you can to get score better marks in the exam.
